The Vampire Knitting Club by Nancy Warren is the first book in the series of 15. This book focuses on introducing the main character, Lucy Swift and her relationships with the characters in the book.
Lucy was born and raised in the United States, and she just went through a bad break up. In an effort to seek some comfort and visit her grandma, who is ever so loving, Lucy travels to Oxford.
Open arriving, she finds that her grandmother has passed away. She is shocked to find this information but understands that no one was able to reach them as she and her parents were off digging on an archeologist trip. Everyone in Oxford seems to have loved Agnes, they rave about how wonderful and kind she was.
Because she had no idea about her grandmas passing, she asks how her grandmas died, and everyone tells her that Agnes died of natural causes and peacefully, but Lucy knows better, things just don’t add up.
After some amateur sleuthing, Lucy discovers that her grandmother indeed did not die from natural causes. Agnes was actually murdered or the victim of an attempted murder. Agnes has become part of the undead and now it is up to Lucy to bring justice to the person who tried to murder her grandmother.
Along the way, she makes some friends, one a very handsome vampire named Rafe, and a dishy detective named Ian. While Rafe serves as guide to Lucy after she is brought up to speed that her grandma was turned, and had been helping hide the vampires for years, Ian is wondering how Lucy keeps managing to get into all this trouble. This is very much the setup of a love triangle throughout the series.
The atmosphere of the book is very cozy, and characters are very likeable. The only thing I was not too fond of was the fact that Lucy seems so quick to judge almost everyone but there definitely is character development and I liked this book enough to continue reading the series.
I give this 4 out 5 yarn hearts
